This week for our unit study we focused on what forms many of the landforms on earth. We did a quick lesson on erosion, weathering, and deposition.
I normally would draw a diagram on the board for the boys to copy into their vocabulary cards.

To help us distinguish between erosion, weathering, and deposition we played a little game. You can grab the cards here.
The boys would draw a card, read it, and decide whether it was erosion, weathering, or deposition.
Demonstration:
We did a demonstration to see how rocks are affected by erosion and weathering over time. I poured some water into a Styrofoam cup and placed in the freezer over night. The next morning we were able to notice some cracking on the cup and it started to change its shape. This is what happens to rocks when they are exposed to different weather they contract and expand. This causes little cracks to form in the rocks and over time they get larger and that weakens the rock causing it to erode.
