Stone Fox Activities

Hi guys! Today I wanted to share with you some of the activities that we did to go along with the book Stone Fox. My son really enjoyed this book and all the activities we worked on.

He worked on character traits about the main character. He had to pick three traits and provide evidence from the book.

He wrote an advice letter to Willy. He was so sweet he wrote "believe in yourself and you can do it! Your grandfather is counting on you now hurry and win that race."

He compared the chores he does at home to all of Willy's responsibility on the farm

We also compared Stone Fox and Little Willy

Using information in the book he created a dogsled race poster.

After doing some research online we discovered that the first race in Jackson, Wyoming was in 1932 and evidence from the book we came up with February 1, 1952 as the race date. The rest of the information is on chapter 5 and 6.

As he read the story we added to the story map. This really helped him in writing his story summary.

We worked on a lot more but this is what I managed to capture. Have you or your kids ever read this book?

  2. I love these activities, super authentic and great for making connections. I looked on your TPT store and cannot find these documents. Could you point me in the right direction?
