Seerah Activities Part 2

Hi guys, today I wanted to share with you some activities we have done while studying the Seerah of the Prophet (saw). We are using the book and video series from The Azharis over on YouTube.  We are also using my seerah timeline cards to help us organize the main events. You can grab the cards from my tpt store here.

8. Omar accepts Islam

After reading about how Omar (ra) accepted Islam the boys made a sword out of pattern blocks.

9.  The Boycott

The Muslims were boycotted by the Quraysh. No one was aloud to tread or speak with them. This was a very difficult time for the Muslims. The boycott order was taped to the Kaaba. We made aged paper.

10. The Year of Sorrow

Two of the Prophet's greatest supporters passed away this year. We learned the name of Allah Al-'Aleem. Allah knows when we are sad and we should turn to Him when we are in need.

11. Taif

When the Prophet (saw) went to Taif the people treated him horribly. They threw stones at him until his shoes were filled with blood. The Prophet (saw) still chose to forgive them. We learned about the name of Alah Al-Ghafoor and Al-Ghafaar. We talked about the importance of forgiveness. We also eat grapes just like the Prophet.

12. When the Moon Split

We read about the event "when the moon split" We made fizzing moon rocks (baking soda, food coloring, and water. Form the mixture into balls and leave it in the freezer overnight.) We also learned the name of Allah Al-Jabaar. Allah can do anything he wants and no one can stop Him.

13. Al Isra Wal Miraj

After reading about this event we made this craft and talked about which prophet he met on which level of heaven.

14. Migration

Sequencing the events of the story of Hijrah. I have a whole unit study if you are interested.

I'll share the rest of the events in another post. I hope some of these activities are beneficial for you and your little ones.

Gallon Man - Liquid Measurement

Hi guys, today I wanted to share with you a fun hands on activity we did during our botany unit. We read in one of our books that it takes 40 gallons of sap to make 1 gallon of maple syrup, so this led to a liquid measurements lesson.

First we started off by collecting containers around the house that corresponded to each measurement (gallon, quart, pint, and cup). Next we ordered them from the largest to the smallest. Finally, we talked about the equivalent measurement (how many quarts in a gallon, how many pints in a quart, etc.)

Material

1. Construction Paper
2. Scissors
3. Brass Fasteners

After the boys understood the concept we assembled our gallon man.

1 Gallon= 4 quarts
1 Quart = 2 pints
1 Pint = 2 cups

CN Tower Lego

Hi guys, today I wanted to share with you our CN Tower Lego tower we put together during our Ontario study. We used whatever colors we had but ideally if you have gray it would be the best color. The original idea came from Craftionary. She has the step by step instructions so please head to her blog for more information.

We also read and watched videos about the CN tower. Here is my sons notebooking page.

Compass Rose

To help my boys learn about the compass rose we did some fun hands on activities. Here are some of the things we did.

We started by reviewing the cardinal directions using 3 part cards from The Modern Montessori Guide.

Next we made a compass rose out of salt dough. We used a template from Kids Activities Blog.

We glued all the pieces together with hot glue.

Cave Zones

Hi guys, today I wanted to share with you more activities we did during our cave unit study. We learned all about cave zones and creatures that live in caves. Here are some of the activities we did.

We learned about the different zones in a cave and made this tear art showing the light transition in each part of the cave.

Cave Zones painting in his notebook

We also learned about the different creatures that live in caves. The cave visitors, the cove lovers, and the cave dwellers.

We also made cave zones in a cup similar to the layers of the ocean. We used a flashlight to see how much light can pass through each cup.

You can find all these activities and printables in my tpt store. Click on the image below to get grab these activities.

South America Study

Hi guys, today I wanted to share with you our mini South America study. Here are some of the things we did during this study.

We started with a sewing project. Continent mini pillow.

Learned about the different biomes of South America. We used dry beans to represent each biome.

Next we learned all about Llamas when we studied about the country of Peru.

We made Llamas using pipe cleaners and wool felt. You can get details for this project from Little World Wanderers free Peru study.

We also baked sweet bread when we studied about the country of Argentina

We also made a diy pin it map to practice the country names, capitals, and flags using a cork board.

This was a good opportunity for us to learn some Spanish and review old vocabulary words. In this activity we were learning opposites.

We learned all about Peruvian weaving.

We also learned about the rainforest, toucans, read lots of books, watched videos, and did map activities.
