Tot-School The Very Hungry Caterpillar Day 2 'Numbers'
Day 2 of The Very Hungry Caterpillar I focused on numbers. We counted 1-5 using number flash cards and practiced more number counting with do a dot markers.
The first activity was matching numbers using flash cards and wooden numbers. I got the printable flash cards from ABC to ACTS. The wooden numbers came as a set that I purchased from Chapters.
After showing him a few times he was able to match the numbers to the flash cards. We practiced saying all the numbers and counting the fruit.
He did not want to just make dots. He wanted to color with them and I just let him do his own thing. I don't have any expectations of these activities. I just want him to enjoy and lead his own learning.
The do-a-dot printable is from totschooling.

I love all these ideas you did around the Very Hungry Caterpillar. We just went to the library for Story Time, and read that book. The librarians set up a craft to make caterpillars with puffs!! Thanks for sharing these ideas! I can't wait for my little one to start a unit on this book :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Leslie! Its a classic and all my boys have enjoyed it. I hope your little one enjoys it too. :)
