Dragons Love Tacos Writing Activities

Have you ever read Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin? If you haven't, it's a must read! We recently read this book and worked on some writing activities.

Descriptive Vocabulary/Invitation to a Taco party:

As we read the book we collected all the descriptive words in this worksheet. We found words like sizzling, crunchy, mild, smooth, super-spicy, specks, gigantic, pantload, etc.

The boys used the descriptive words we collected to write an invitation to a taco party.

Expository Book Summary:

The boys also wrote a summary for the book. We worked on starting with a hook, how to summarize the story with out giving it all away, and we also talked about the importance of not adding your opinion.

Here's my first grader working on his final copy.

Final Copy.

This was a fun mini writing activity. Up next we're working on fairy tale writing, which I am so excited about.
