Homeschool Weekly Wrap Up

Hi guys! Here's what we've been up to this week.

Preschool:

This week we covered all things letter P our main focus was penguins and popcorn. You can read all about it here.

Language Arts:

This week my first grader worked on making predictions before and during a story. We also reviewed writing proper sentences. We read Edward the Emu and Edwina the Emu, if you've never read these two books you are missing out!

My 3rd grader started working on a personal narrative. We focused on brainstorming about small moments in his life (a time he got hurt or sick). We also read lots of mentor text and tried to figure out what small moment the author focuses on. We also practiced turning telling sentences into showing sentences.

Some of the books we read Owl Moon, and When I Was Young in the Mountains.

Science:

We wrapped up the skeletal system this week using Apologia Anatomy and Physiology. My son said to me "mommy this is my favorite curriculum" :) it just melted my heart (PS you know your a homeschool kid when you say words like curriculum) ;).

Reviewing the names of the bones using a skeleton puzzle from learning Resources.

Geography:

This week for Canadian geography we learned all about Nova Scotia.

Facts about Alexander Graham Bell

Nova Scotia is known as the lobster capital of Canada. We made lobster cages and a lobster craft.

History:

We read some of chapter 4 in Story of the World Volume 2. We did some copy work and will finish up the rest of the lesson next week.

Islamic Studies:

We read about the story of Musa when Allah speaks to him. We did a straw blowing craft to represent the burning bush. We learned that Allah was preparing Musa (AS) with 3 things when he faces Firwan, Obediance (to Allah) ---> Courage ----> and Trust in Allah.

That's it for our week! I hope you had a wonderful week :).

    1. Thank you so much for the sweet comment! It's one of the things that I always cut out when I don't have time, but the boys love all the crafts. We squeeze it in at night or on the weekends. It's the thing they remember the most.
